The Twilio toolkit lets Arcade agents send and read SMS messages through the Twilio API using phone numbers on a Twilio account.
Capabilities
- Send SMS — send messages from any SMS-capable Twilio number on the account; returns the message SID and delivery status. Trial accounts are limited to verified destination numbers.
- Read conversations — retrieve the full two-way message thread with a specific contact (messages sent and received), paginated newest-first with cursor support.
- List received messages — page through inbound SMS on a given Twilio number, newest-first, with cursor-based pagination.
- Discover phone numbers — list all SMS-capable numbers on the account in ascending order, with cursor-based pagination.
Secrets
All three secrets are required and work together to authenticate API requests via Twilio's API Key scheme.

TWILIO_ACCOUNT_SID— the unique identifier for your Twilio account. Find it on the Twilio Console home page under Account Info. It begins withAC. -
TWILIO_API_KEY_SID— the SID of a Twilio API Key, used as the username in HTTP Basic Auth. Create one in the Twilio Console under Account → API keys & tokens → Create API key. Choose a key type (Standard is sufficient for SMS); copy the SID (begins withSK) immediately after creation. See Twilio API Keys docs for details. -
TWILIO_API_KEY_SECRET— the secret paired with the API Key SID, used as the password in HTTP Basic Auth. This value is shown only once at creation time in the Twilio Console — store it immediately. If lost, you must create a new API key. See Twilio API Keys docs for details.
